Amanda Brugel

Brugel was the sole Canadian cast member during Season 1 of the show and was just occasionally. After Season 2, she became a regular cast member and remains a part of the cast today. When asked about her role in the show and if there were parallels to her personal life beyond the lens, Brugel revealed that she used her experiences of racism in relation to how the Marthas are being treated. "I don't just use this in her role as Martha, but also in her personal life as Martha but as I said, it's my previous moments when I'm feeling like I was being held down by circumstances because of race." The race I'm from has never caused me to suffer physical injuries during my lifetime, but it's something that I've witnessed. In the series I'll resort to any form of racial slurs or racist epithets that have caused me to feel like someone is hitting me. It's almost like I punch her in each scene. Amanda Amanda Amanda
